For buyers, stylists, and bloggers worldwide, New York Fashion Week is one of the best weeks of the whole year. The most incredible designers are all in one place to show innovative presentations of their work for the next season, not to mention all the attendees together are somewhat of a presentation themselves. The city is crawling with chic men and women, each looking to make a statement of their own. This year, part of the THREAD team took to New York City to check out presentations including Veronica Beard, Maison Scotch, KREWE, and L’agence.
Veronica Beard held their presentation in the lower level of their brand new Madison Avenue store. The space was transformed by interior designer Ken Fulk into a highly stylized, throwback boho apartment. Models were scattered about sporting pieces from the upcoming spring line, while the rest of the collection hung on the walls. The collection stayed true to classic VB silhouettes, with an emphasis on an iconic Americana vibe. The presentation was about more than just showing off their spring collection; the event was meant to be uniquely fun and to re-ignite a love for shopping at brick-and-mortar stores rather than solely online – and of course THREAD can get behind that idea!
Checking out the Maison Scotch presentation was a no-brainer for the THREAD team – our customers love this brand. The Spring 2017 collection is free-spirited to say the least; the inspiration for the collection came from astrology, botany, and animals. Not only did this play into the garment details, such as flower and star embroidery and flowing silhouettes, but the models were standing in a whimsical garden. The combination of the giant leaves and lily pads with the striking color palette, bold metallics, and unexpected details made it feel like the Maison Scotch presentation existed in a world of its own. And we’re definitely feeling inspired!
This past spring we fell in love with Krewe du Optic sunnies, and this was their first New York Fashion Week presentation. They’ve already succeeded in securing their place in big retailers and on famous faces, but joining the Fashion Week lineup is still yet another step up. As always, their sunglasses are inspired by New Orleans culture, adorned with colored, mirrored lenses in the hottest hues of the season.
Finally, the THREAD team checked in at the L’Agence showroom. We’re so excited to bring this line to Columbus. L’Agence pieces are designed in flattering, feminine silhouettes and the most luxurious fabrics like silks and fine imported fabrics. They’re effortlessly chic and timeless with unique twists. We just had to shop some of these pieces for ourselves!
No surprise, NYFW Spring ’17 was an incredible experience. Not only are designers bringing amazingly unique pieces to the table, but this year’s presentations are setting the bar high for creativity. We loved crawling the big city to check out all these chic shows, and we can’t wait to bring some of these collections to our customers!
